My practice is material-led, where making operates as a form of inquiry. I investigate value and preciousness in contemporary jewellery through the transformation of date pits, a material embedded in Saudi Arabia’s cultural and economic identity yet consistently discarded. I examine how value is shaped and what remains unseen or disregarded. Through carving, casting, and heat-controlled colour processing, I work with date pits from my father’s farm to explore their structural and aesthetic potential. Through experimentation, the material reveals unexpected qualities, shifting its status from waste into a reconsidered and revalued material for contemporary jewellery.
