Cultivated Objects is a design concept exploring the intersection of regional agriculture and design. The project asks how agricultural landscapes can serve as a starting point for design practice. Developed in close collaboration with local farmers, it investigates the creative use of agricultural by-products, resulting in a bio-based material and the Cultivated Bench. All raw materials are grown, processed, and ultimately composted within a 50-kilometer radius of Düsseldorf. By working with existing farming structures and local resources, the project highlights the relationship between people and agricultural culture. Inspired by the form of a small straw bale, the bench makes regional and sustainable agricultural systems visible through design.
