My animated graduate film ‘Hoax Encounters’ follows a trio of Alien nature enthusiasts visiting Earth, who accidentally abduct a group of Hikers while trying to steal their camera. The film switches perspectives between the 2 groups, with the charming hijinks of the Aliens being reframed as ominous and frightening through the lens of the Hikers’ camera. I animated the characters in 2D and integrated them into a multitude of 2D/3D environments constructed from hand painted assets.
