This project reflects the period of coming-of-age that results in the detachment from family, reflecting on the burden of care through supressed silence and tension. The letters and drawings are a rumination on what it means to endure. Labour is a symptom of love as the action of writing and erasure becomes a continual, relentless process of psychological endurance. It is a response to the dysfunction of chaos; seeking linguistic repetition, and comfort within the psychological impermanence of marking and the erasure of charcoal. What remains, is what is left unsaid – it is a letter of love, hope, sacrifice and gratitude.
