Exposure to death

Kayana Lamont

Grays School of Art Robert Gordon University

focusing on the demise of birds found throughout art history in an attempt to rewire my perception of death. Through the use of oil paint, board, metal, clay, and my studio walls I shifted the contexts of historic artworks to reflect solitude and bring attention to the unfortunate beauty of death, while maintaining the integrity of birds throughout my practice. highly influenced by the works of Melchior d' Hondecoeter, Jean Baptiste Oudry, Jacob Biltius and Edouard Travies. My admiration for their skill and compositions pulled me towards their bird subjects.
