The Cycle of the Suitcase explores migration, memory, and cultural identity through the suitcase as both object and vessel of experience. Inspired by my family’s journey from Madeira, Portugal, to Venezuela, the collection reflects on the memories, traditions, and aspirations carried across generations. Portuguese Madeiran embroidery merges with Venezuelan weaving, basketry, and handcrafted textile techniques, while luggage-inspired details and multifunctional garments translate the suitcase into a wearable language. Repurposed leather and inherited fabrics are transformed through experimental textile techniques, connecting personal history with contemporary design. Through craftsmanship and storytelling, the collection celebrates resilience, adaptation, and evolving identity shaped by migration.
