THe life of lines

The Life of Lines is a knitwear collection design for Womenswear Autumn / Winter 2027. The references and research for this project are composed of many themes magpied together. Miscellaneous home objects like colanders, woven chairs, tiles and curtains, each bring unique properties such as drapery and graphic motifs. During the process, napkins and kitchen towels covered in black paint also became part of my research, later using print and scanning processes to develop new textures, overlaying and using negatives. Craft is a very important value for the project, textile artists inspired the use of weaving mixed with crochet and knit. The entertaining lines are explored as different ways of connecting material and building structure, that is later used to create silhouettes. The weaving combined with draped curtains from the research develop into knitted ropes going through the fabric, while creating volume and distorting stripes. Yarns are predominantly natural, with a focus on wool exploring its heaviness and felting processes. This projects aligns with design innovation, technical skills/ use of colour and the unexpected category.
